How It Started

STUDiPACK is the product Keng herself would have needed if her parents hadn’t succeeded in fleeing with her to Sweden. If they had stayed in Vietnam and China, her life would likely have looked very different in terms of education and life opportunities.

As a trained civil engineer from Mälardalen University and with a passion for problem-solving, it was her own challenges that led to the creation of the STUDiPACK school bag. The idea of, instead of unpacking and repacking schoolbooks, calculators, and formula collections, simply closing the desk and carrying everything on your back, grew into a deeper insight. Who would really need such a product? – It’s those who lack a desk, a classroom, or even a school…

With STUDiPACK, children can have more opportunities for education. Whether they live far from a school, classrooms lack furniture, or there is no school at all.

After the idea was refined and developed through the SörmX startup program, it has now evolved into a backpack with a desk and lighting, aimed at giving more children opportunities for education.

With the support of Google #WeStart, we have tested the first prototype on-site in schools in Hluhluwe and Johannesburg, South Africa, in collaboration with the organization Star for Life.

Together with STUDiPACK’s partner Elis, we have been able to reuse workwear that would otherwise have been discarded. As a result, nearly 80% of the backpack is made from recycled materials. The desk is made of wood to minimize the environmental impact, even after the desk’s life cycle.

Now the product is ready for production and to be tested in a pilot project. We have chosen to support children in Ukraine who can no longer attend school. Here, you can contribute to this project. Link to donation page
